hey guys,
does anyone know about how app are read/classified in top colleges/Ivies?
hearsay told me that if your grades are below avg, the adcom would not bother read the essays, is that true?
If it is really so, i dont really stand a chance. :(

It depends on how low your grades are.

hey thanks but well another rumor, only HYP can afford to do those thing.
im applying as intl student though.

I don’t know about the Ivies, but I do know that this is true at some schools. I would assume that because the Ivies have such a huge applicant pool that this would be true, except for maybe connections.
When I went to Bates College (small selective LAC in Maine), the admissions officer came right out and said they reject over 1000 applicants on the spot after looking at their grades/class rigor/test scores and without reading their essays or looking at ECs.

Honestly, though, I would not give up. You never know.

oh yeah that’s very relieving though, thanks loads. i just gotten my subject test and it’s 1600. so it counts too, no? im thinking of Colby over Bates so it’s fine if Bates do so. :)
