Application Received by Jan. 2

AHHH! I sent in my CommonApp to Pomona a few days ago...so I know that was in by the deadline already. BUT...I am really worried about my supplement. their application booklet says "ALL application materials are due in our office by the appropriate application deadlines," but is there a chance they would still accept my app, even if the supplement reaches their office after the 2nd?

Email it!! Or Fax it. Just to be sure, mail it too.

lilypad--my D hadn't realized that fine print issue for ED1, so she ended up FedExing the app. on a Saturday with next business day delivery. Since Jan. 2nd is a Sunday with no mail delivery, no one will be able to open the mail until the 3rd. Other posters who called the Admin. Office were told that all app. materials (not necessarily recs) had to be received by the deadlines. If you haven't mailed it yet, I would FedEx it. You may want to avoid the anxiety of wondering if you should have gotten it in by the deadline, especially if Pomona is your first choice. Good luck!

I mailed my son's supplement certified mail on Monday and according to USPS tracking, it's still not there. I called the admin. office on Thursday and they said if it were delivered on Friday there would be nobody to sign for it. I was very worried, but she said they would redeliver on Monday and seemed really unconcerned, no dire warnings. At this point I have no idea where the supplement is or if it will be delivered on Monday, a week after mailing. Am I taking a chance, should we fax a copy?

noseemom--you may want to have your S call the Admissions Office on Monday to confirm receipt and to ask if they would like him to fax a copy. The LA area had some major weather problems this past week (5+ inches rain in one day and high winds) that may have affected mail transportation. As long as you have the certified mail receipt, it should be okay. Pomona will probably understand that once something is mailed, it's out of your control. The USPS, in all likelihood, attempt delivery again on Monday. Good luck!

Thanks for your support and advice, Little Mother =)

I already mailed my supplement via USPS a few days ago, but I am just worried about the efficiency (or rather, inefficiency) of the post office. I took up your suggestion, and emailed admissions a copy of my application. I plan on calling the office on Monday, and faxing over my app if they want a hard copy. actually- should I fax over my app tomorrow (jan 2) just in case? I just don't want to bombard them with an email and fax...

Thanks again, Happy 2005!

oops, and thanks SBmom!

Thanks so much SB Mom and Little Mother. He called admissions today and was told not to worry about the supplement arriving on time if the app has already been sent. Thanks, lilypad for asking the question. S was glad to know he wasn't the only one worrying about the USPS.

No problem, noseemom! I called the admissions office too, which is apparently swamped with mail. I was told not to worry about my supplement getting in by the deadline, and that in the case my materials were perhaps lost or missing, they would contact me so I could resend them. I think they should have a postmarked deadline next year...definitely cuts down the stress and uncertainty, but what can ya do?

Thanks for all your help!
