Hi, I'm wondering if Columbia's application functions similarly to the common app in the sense that all the schools reports, guidance counselor recs, and teacher recs are submitted online and sent off in that fashion as opposed to doing things by the mail? I don't know if this is a dumb question but I've yet to pay the application fee to see part 2 and I need to know soon if I will have to print these documents out or if they will already be in an online format.

Teacher recs are online, and when you get to Part 2 there will be a link on the left hand sidebar where you can do this. You basically enter teacher emails and then instructions are sent to them.

School report and guidance counselor recs need to be mailed to 212 Hamilton Hall MC 2807, 1130 Amsterdam Ave New York, NY 10027. When you get to Part 2, there will be a link on the left hand sidebar that says something like 'downloadable forms'. There you'll want to print out the pdf of the School Report, bring it to your counselor, and have them fill it out and mail it off along with a copy of your transcript. It's a good idea to bring a stamped, addressed envelope with you when you give it to your counselor.

thanks for the help!

What do you do if you have a third teacher rec you want to submit? Forms say 1 and 2 and do not duplicate....

Typically, Columbia does not accept a third recommendation; so, you won't be able to submit it online. However, you can mail it along with your other forms or specify it as additional information. There's no guarantee it will be read, though.
