I submitted my application on 10/10, and just checked its status. It says that it is complete, however I don't think they have any scores! I rook my SAT's on 10/9 and indicated Tulane as one of my free score sends. I emailed my admissions person that day and asked them to hold my app for my Oct SAT scores. I received an email the next day confirming that it would not be reviewed until the end of OCT. Then on 10/11 I ordered ACT's to be sent ( I dod this in case my ACT's ended up being better than my new SAT's). Do you think they alraedy received the ACT's and forgot to hold my app for the SAT's?. When I checked another of my schools today they do NOT ACT's that I sent the same day!

A couple of things: 1. If they have your ACT scores, then your file is technically “complete” since they only need either SAT’s or ACT’s. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily mean that your application is on the table for consideration yet. They could still be holding your file for the SAT scores as you requested. 2. The explanation for one school already having your ACT scores and another one not is that some schools receive their scores electronically (Tulane is one I am pretty sure) and others still request the paper report.

Do you think I would be annoying if I called them? Or should I send another email? The confusing thing is that I don’t even know if my OCT SAT’s will be better or not as I haven’t seen them yet! I submitted 2 sets of ACTs - a 29 and a 30 composite but superscored they come out to 30.5 so if they round up it is a 31. And maybe there is a slight advantage to being reviewed sooner than later - I am so confused!

I wouldn’t overanalyze it. There is certainly nothing wrong with calling, that is what they are there for. But I think you might as well wait until you see your SAT scores, decide what you want to do based on those scores, and then call. Even if they act on your application in the meantime, if your SAT scores come in really strong, you can always ask them to reevaluate if needed. Decisions on admission and scholarships are not set in stone. If new information comes to them, they will consider it.

Do you have a common name that could cause files to get mixed up? If you are concerned, call. They understand.

Tulane will look at the best standarized test score, whether its the superscore they create with your SATs or a composite ACT (not ever superscored). If you’ve requested your counselor to hold off on evaluation it is extremely likely that they have your file separate from the thousands of other files and will review it when your new scores arrive. As fc said, applications can always be reevaluated when new scores come in.
