"I had a dream that I got accepted to NU too!!!! ..."Congratulations! You have been accepted to Noorthwestern U" something like that... the "Northwestern" was spelled incorrectly..."

That was a very interesting dream--even when it works out as you hoped, something is not quite right. I think it's a good metaphor for this whole process. With a few big exceptions (ie, people who miscalculated on their safety schools):

When things work out, they aren't perfect (college is still hard, someone always does better than you, some classes are impossible, you hadn't realized that this or that would be such a problem, etc.).

When things DON'T work out, they aren't really such a disaster as they seem at first (if you are very strong academically for the college you go to, then getting good grades will be easier, and that is more important for grad school than where you went; tranferring to a "better" school is surprisingly easy, though getting aid money as a transfer student is hard; there are lots of other students just as smart as you at the college you got in; etc.).

"hehehe" wasnt ten characters, and cc wont let you post unless your message has ten characters, so we either go "......" or write "ten characters" to reach the limit.

Listening to all of you has actually made me somewhat anxious... although Northwestern's decision is just kind of a buffer for me I guess. Depending on the rest of my decisions.. it's unlikely I'll be going there... and I wasn't worried about it or checking up on it until I started reading all of that on these boards.

that is kind of how I am Northwestern has never been my top choice and my chances of getting in are minimal, but still it just feels like an indication of how things will turn out over the next two weeks for my other competitive schools. This is really the first uber selective one I'll be hearing from so I'm nervous as can be.

hmm, i'm thinking about going out. that way i won't even have to be around when the decisions go out. kinda take my mind off it it. i'm rather scared!

im in the same boat...I didnt really care about Northwestern in the beginning, I mean it's a great school but money is an issue, so now it was more like, lets see if I get in. but now im nervous because, indeed it is the first competitive school i'll be hearing from. ahhhhh
