Application Status question

I applied for the Fall term for UCF about 3 months ago and I still haven't heard back. I check the myUCF account every day and it always says it is being reviewed by their admission committee. I have a 4.2 gpa and a 21 ACT. I play Varsity football, track, and wrestling. I do a lot of community service and I have done many mission trips for my church.

Why is it taking so long for them to respond?

Should I send in a reactivation form for the Summer term?

please help;(

I am not sure what is taking so long other than your ACT score of 21 may be holding you back.
Can you copy and paste your UCF web status page and you may also want to contact admissions after January 4, after they come back from Christmas break.

Well right now, they’re currently on break. However, I’m sure that once they return, they’ll be sending out many decisions. Your GPA is great, but like david said, it might be the ACT. The average score for summer has been 22-25 or 26, but it’s always seemed like 22 was a sort of cut off. I’ve seen many people accepted with 22, for summer, and a good GPA, but never 21. I would reactivate your account for summer. Your GPA is perfect for fall! However, the ACT won’t cut it for summer, and I feel if you applied to this term originally, you would have been accepted by now. If you switch to summer, I’m sure admissions would immediately accept you:)

If all else fails, you can retake the ACT. A good prep book, and a month of studying brought me from a 20, to a 22, so I’m sure you’d have no issues raising it:)

the same for me… i applied for fall 2012 in october and i still havnt heard anything… i have a 3.9 gpa and a 22 on ACT and 1110 (reading/math) for SAT. I’m wondering if i should do the reactivation form as well?

Noles, it’s all upon you wish to do…but if it’s your first choice, and you won’t mind super, I would reactivate it. Many of the individuals accepted for fall not only have a high GPA, but it seems the lowest I’ve seen was a 25 ACT score, or higher.

Best of luck!:)

My d applied and had everything in by the end of September and had not heard back from admissions by Thanksgiving. When she spoke with admissions they told her she would need to come to admissions in person to get an update. We live close so she went to visit the campus while there an admissions counselor told her she should reactivate for summer. I sent an email to admissions just before the break and a counselor responded. She told me she does not recommend reactivating for summer because you will only be considered for summer. If you apply for fall you are considered for both fall and summer. Completing a reactivation form also starts your admission process from the beginning again.

so does the online status change to “you’ve been accepted” (or something along those lines) or does it just stay the same and you get an answer by mail?

Your online status will change first, then you’ll get a letter in the mail a few weeks later.

Your status either says congratulations or says we’re sorry to inform you but… I applied in the beginning of september and found out on november 21st. Your 21 might be too low for fall. They may defer you our offer summer, but they havent offered summer much this year apparently. Good luck!

I applied Oct 9 2011 for the summer term because I thought it would increase my chances of getting in and I haven’t heard from them yet. My best friend hasn’t either. But I’ve had other friends apply AFTER me and have been accepted like 3 weeks after they applied and have already been offered scholarships! I call them and always ask are they missing something. (the people are always so rude I’m like why have a job in customer service if you don’t like to/ don’t know how to talk to people!) But they have my recommendation letters, application, fee waiver, transcripts, and test scores! I have no idea what to do. I just want an answer. Even if it’s no. I at least want to know something!!!

I applied for the fall 2012 in october and still have not heard anything as well. I have a 4.1 gpa and a 23 on my act, but I have heard just because you have not gotten accepted yet, does not mean you won’t later. Think of it this way, you haven’t gotten denied yet, so I would wait a bit longer. It is happening to a lot of people, your bound to get an answer soon.

i just found out today, i was waitlisted… it really sucks. i had a 3.4 gpa and 1800 sat. i applied around october november but they told me that because i sent my sat scores on december 9th they had to place me back at the bottom or sumthing. Hope you get in soon

@Vapperss - If that SAT was the very first standardized test score that you sent them, then they couldn’t review your application until it came in. I got accepted for fall in October with a lower SAT than yours. I don’t know if that helps your nerves or not, but don’t give up yet! :)

Just received this status today for Summer 2012 application.

We are offering you a place on our wait list for future consideration. Certainly, we understand that this may make it difficult for you to finalize your college enrollment plans, especially as they relate to housing and responses to other offers of admission. Therefore, we are asking that you indicate whether you would like to be placed on the wait list or if you wish to cancel your application by selecting your desired preference below. If you choose to be placed on our wait list, we anticipate providing you with a final notification of your admission decision no later than May 31st.

Disclaimer: This is your current status. Your status is subject to change at any time depending upon receipt of new information and further review by the Admissions Committee.

Does anyone know anybody that got accepted after being wait listed? I’m so upset. I guess its better than outright rejection.

I’m sorry to hear :frowning: I was deferred, so I’m not too happy either. If I were you I would wait until UF’s decision date. Spots can open up to applicants who choose UF. If you’re still on the wait list within a few weeks after that date, I would recommend committing to another school. Good luck :)

@itsxlizzyxxox- no i sent my original scores a lot earlier
