Hi, I applied to a school via the CommonApp and it say that 1 letter of rec is required. I submitted my application without any letter of recommendation with intent to send it later. However, I logged into the college’s website to check my application status and it says: “A decision has been made regarding your application. You will receive formal notice in the mail within one week…” Is this some kind of error or was my application so good that they disregarded the letter of rec requirement? Also the app deadline is all the way in August, I applied on the 20th of January.
Another thing is, not too long ago they sent me an email welcoming me to the school (This was NOT an application acknowledgment email telling me that they’ve received my app). Should I contact the school regarding my “incomplete” application or should I just take this as an accept and leave it alone?
Your comment about the August/January dates is confusing. I would wait and see what comes in the mail before contacting them in any case.
It is rolling admissions if that makes any difference, but still a bit early I would think. @intparent
I guess I will just wait and see.
Are you applying for something other than fall 2015? Because August 20 seems awfully late for them to accept applications. If this is a school with a very high acceptance rate, maybe they did admit you without the rec letter.
No, I have applied for Fall 2015. The acceptance rate is 88% for transfers. @intparent
Ah… transferring. Well, I would wait and see what they send you. You might be in without the letter. If they accept you, I wouldn’t worry about it.
@intparent, I received a formal email today congratulating me on my acceptance! I didn’t think I would receive a decision within 2 weeks of applying. I guess they really didn’t care about my LOR. Well I’m not complaining!
Thanks for your help.
