My son (my oldest) applied to NC State 12/1/10 after loving his visit and campus tour. It is his first choice school so we are obviously impatient and bit anxious. Our concern is that the status of his application still shows "Submitted" which NCSU defines as "not yet reviewed by our staff for completeness". Does this sound normal? Son is asking me if he should send an email or call admissions to make sure his status isn't stuck and I'm not sure what to tell him as this whole applying to college thing is new for me too. BTW, I have been lurking on multiple threads on these boards for the last few months and want to say thanks for all the good information and shared stories. It's been very reassuring.

My son applied on 10/24/10 and it took almost two months for his status to change to “Scheduled for Decision” on 1/30/11 at 7 pm. Per their admission website, applications received after Nov 1st will find out by March 30th. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Gut feeling was that we just need to suck it up and be patient but it’s reassuring to hear someone confirm that feeling is probably right.

Hope your news will be good on 1/30.

Yeah, there shouldn’t be a problem, but if you’re really worried, have your son call and confirm with the school that they have all of his materials. I did this, and it turned out my school sent my transcripts with the wrong birthday and I barely made the early decision because of it.

But good luck to him!
