S's app status still has the holiday break message saying to check back after 1/2. Anyone's status or message change yet or have they not starting making decisions again?

Still the same message/no change for me too.

I haven't been checking my status. I don't want the increased stress, knowing that a decision has been made, whenever that happens. I'll just wait for my paper decision.

We had received an email before the holidays saying "Because you successfully met the recommended filing date of November 30, your application is among the first group being evaluated for admission to Penn State". In checking the site today, I can confirm that the holiday break message is still there, and his app status is still "being reviewed". They also mentioned in the email the first two weeks in Jan are "extremely busy" and it would be difficult to even take calls.

i acutally called today. it seems like they are busy calculating and stuff. the girl said wait till the end of next week and status will be changing left and right.

I think what is making me a little more apprehensive is that my S's app was in at the end of September and all of his paperwork by mid Oct and we didn't get an E mail saying that. I almost want to call and make sure that everything was received, instead of just sitting here assuming that it was, but I know they are probably going crazy in admissions trying to process everything. I don't understand why some people would get E mails and others wouldn't, though.

bdwaymom, have you gotten any emails at all from them? Are you sure they have the correct email address or the one you check regularly? My son has his own address but used the family address on his applications. In any case, if it makes you feel better, of course call. They are busy, but it's a quick question... at the very least you can mention your concern about not having received the email...

Bdwaymom -- I would definitely call the Admission's office. My D submitted her application and supporting documents later than your S and received acceptance letter the week after Thanksgiving -- so he should have heard something by now.

We also had the experience with a University (Indiana) losing D's transcripts after notifying us (and her high school) that all materials had all been received. Only way we discovered this mishap was when we inquired with Admissions as to why it was taking so long to hear a decision. We thought all was in order, but in real life mistakes happen.

I can't check my application status because it says, when I try to log in, that I am a current student. That is obviously not correct :p. Does anyone else have this problem?

No, not that specific issue but I believe they are having some problems, all around because when my son tried to log in an an error message keeps popping up saying we are sorry for the inconvenience, an error has occurred if the problem persists contact PSU etc, etc....

Do the same people make admission decisions also take our tuition money? I sent my Spring semester tuition (check) on Thursday, December 7 and eLion still says this message:

"Messages: Your registration for spring semester will be complete when alltuition and fees are paid. Billing for the spring semester starts inNovember and continues up to the first day of classes. You canview and/or pay your semester charges by selecting 'BillsTuition/Other' from the eLion left-hand menu."

Are they just overwhelmed with all the admission decisions that they have to make or did my check get lost somewhere? Also, what happens if my registration remains incomplete past the first day of classes? Are they going to kick me out?

mdf921, I am now getting the same error message that your son is. Harumph.

So frustrating... I suppose I'll try to call tomorrow and see what's up.

Iceburns: Just checked now and the problem seems to be corrected. I was able to log on, but the status screen still has the same holiday message and that my son's application is "being reviewed".

I did call and spoke to an admissions rep today. She checked for me and thank goodness all of S's paperwork is in. She said we will def hear by the end of the month. She was super nice and it took a load off of our mind to know that everything is in. Now on to the decision part.....

bdwaymom...that's great one less thing to worry about! Best of luck with the decision.

you all will definitely know by the end of this month, and hopefully i will too! best of luck to all. im confident in all of you/your S or D!
