Has anyone heard from the admission office yet? I haven't received any confirmation or email notifying missing items, so I started to feel very worried. I don't know if I should email them or wait; until when do you think I should wait?

We haven't heard a peep yet, which seems kind of weird considering all the mail ds has been getting from other colleges.

Yea I got paper mail notifying that my application is complete and they will give out the decisions on march 14.

Well, as the monkey noted after his tail'd been caught in the zero-turn lawnmower, "It won't be long now!"

Furman does not appear to be one of the more applicant-friendly institutions, at least in the interim period.

Good luck.

Thank you. I emailed them, and everything is there now. Hope that I will be lucky and you too.

I got an e-mail stating that I could check my status...I just logged in and I was accepted! woot!

same here, although I doubt I'm going. I have already been accepted at my top 2 choices.

check the application status page with you ID #. Decisions should be on line at 5pm EST today. Good luck everyone!

Update-our twins were accepted. Furman is one of their top choices-depends upon other admission decisions and scholarship dollars where they will go.

dd dittoes ... a very nice backup with a beautiful campus. While this has not been a stellar admissions/communicating experience, after a very nice visit and tour last fall, we've heard good things about FU. Good luck to all headed to Greenville.

i was accepted too. i don't know if i'm going though, i've already been accepted to my first choice.

We visited Furman today. My D met with the department head of her intended major, I spoke with Finaid and we took the tour. Very pleasant experience. During the presentation after the tour, a man (admissions director?) interupted the meeting to present another girl with her official acceptance letter. He also called out my D's name and presented her with a Furman t-shirt. She already knew of her acceptance as she is a scholarship finalist. Wonderful tour, impressed with finaid, beautiful campus, D was very impressed with her meeting. We had lunch together in the dining hall after the tour (vouchers given at welcome center). The food was actually very good! Cannot really think of any negatives at all. Just hope the financial side works out. FYI.. today is the day that letters go in the mail.

Expatengr, have you heard any news yet from finaid? I hope it all works out for your D.

To all: My D is graduating this semester. It seems like only yesterday that we sat waiting for news from Furman ourselves. It is an exciting time as well as a very stressful one.

Most major decisions we make in life have both positive and negative aspects. So it was also with deciding which college to attend. Do you go to a more well-known school that carries more potential clout or do you go with your gut instinct and go where you feel wanted and comfortable? Our D decided upon Furman. Candidly, part of this decision was do to financial support offered by Furman, but most of the influence was due to how comfortable Furman made her feel, how wanted and welcomed she was. It was the right size, right location, right proportion of student to professor ratio for her.

After four years, this was the absolute best decision for her. She has had incredible support from faculty and established wonderful mentor relationships with numerous professors who have helped her grow as an intellect as well as a person. Her advisor has been fantastic!

Part of the decision of where to attend depends in part, I believe, on what your son or daughter generally hopes to do after graduation. If professional school or graduate school is in their possible future, Furman is a great launching board. Professors well-prepare students for advanced work. After Furman, my D is going on for her PhD (already received her acceptances into PhD programs with full financial support from some wonderful and "big-name" schools). So, Furman can get you where you want.

Above all, however, is that I believe Furman was the right environment for her to discover herself and develop her confidence. And that, after all is what college is meant to do, isn't it?

Good luck with all your decisions.

iflyjets.... As stated, I met with financial aid but no news on $$$ as of yet. My D was invited to interview as a finalist for the Hollingsworth Scholarship ($25K/yr + other benefits). The interview is March 28th. I hear there are 84 finalist with 19 Hollingsworth's to be awarded. We are really praying and keeping our fingers crossed that she will receive the award as Furman seems to be a perfect fit for her. The scholarship will make it possible and also bring it closer financially to the other schools to which she has been accepted. Great news about your D. Isn't it great to see your kids thrive?
