Application Status

For those of you who have submitted, what is your application status?
Mine says: We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.
However, I know that my school hasn't sent my transcript yet. Is this possible?

No!!! Not the status! Sorry, last year statuses became something of an obsession at CC. My advice- don't pay too much attention to it, it will just stress you out.

^^^smacks head! OY! Nikara, don't tell me they didn't change that system!

Ahh sry didn't mean to cause a craze. Just wondering how i'm under reveiw if my transcript hasn't been sent?

I really don't know anything about statuses. I'm eternally grateful that they didn't exist when I applied. As far as I know, the system is still in place.

The system though actually worked in the beginning...I remember that first admits did get the "we have made a decision" notification and then got the package in the mail two days later. But later things were not clear anymore when the bulk of the 36000 applicants were being reviewed, and statuses wouldn't change or didn't make sense.
As for OP's question, don't worry too much about it. It's probably just a standard status for those who have sent in their part of the application. It's normal that some recs and transcripts have not all been sent in yet in mid November. Besides, I don't believe applications would even be reviewed at this time.

If I am not mistaken, last year my son had already been accepted while his online status said he was under review. Do not pay any attention! The admissions office will contact you if your application is incomplete and they need something. Other than that- hang tight until all of the acceptances have been mailed out next spring.

You need to create an Oasis account - it's odd - it would never occur to you to check Financial Aid documents. But once you do that, you can check documents received.

USC Financial Aid - My Financial Aid & Documents

so if USC will let u know if ur missing something from ur application, what if that notification comes after the dec 1 deadline? would they allow us to express mail our stuff in?

USC understand that some documents (GC rec, official transcript, SAT official report) get lost or held up, so they notify you and then allow a little more time to get the missing docs in.

i checked my oasis account, and if it says "none" under the required documents to be submitted section, then that means USC got my transcript, recs, scores, everything?

One way to have proof of receipt is to print off the coversheets and fax all items. You get emails confirming receipt right away.

You can also click on "Browse available forms in our document library." in your oasis account. It will show items under Received such as
- ACT Composite Test Score
- Combined SAT Score or ACT Score
- Official SAT or ACT Score Report

Probably the 'None' under required documents is good enough. But seeing the official SAT or ACT and ACT composite, etc. relieved us.

USC staff promptly reply to inquiries too.

idk if this is part of USC protocol, but if they've received your transcript and other school forms, would they list them under the "Browse available forms..." section w/ the SAT/ACT stuff?

Is anyone having problems logging into the OASIS? I entered in my USCID and Birthdate and it shows "A record matching your USC ID and birthdate could not be found.".

I also can not log into the Mid-Year Report as well .... And to top it all off, I faxed in my SAT and ACT score reports, however I did not receive an email confirmation.

I will have to contact them on Monday, but I sure hope this isn't a sign of rejection already.

"I sure hope this isn't a sign of rejection already."

don't worry, they don't do rejection that way.

oh lord, all the good memories this brings back.

We pretty much established that statuses don't really matter, except that if it says "we've mailed noification" in january, you can except a merit scholarship. There will be no signs of rejection this early, I PROMISE. My status was on "reviewing" until like March last year and I'm at USC with wonderful financial aid.
