I received an email from one of the grad schools I applied to saying that my application was complete and being forwarded to the department. It gave the website to check my application status, and explained what the various statuses meant. It also stated that decisions would NOT be posted online. However, when I checked that page, it doesn't say anything about the application status, just "decision type". Next to decision type it says "graduate non-admit". Does this, as I think, mean I'm not admitted, or is this something else entirely? Someone suggested it could be because I'm a non-resident of the state that school is in. I have no idea

That's pretty confusing. I would believe the part that says decisions will not be posted online and wait for the envelope before stressing. Decision type may mean the type of decision they'll be making: graduate/undergraduate, campus/distance ed., full/part-time etc. "Graduate non-admit" sounds like it could mean "being considered for graduate division, has not (yet) been admitted," or it could refer to some policy they have about direct-admits from their department's undergrad pool.

At the very least, "not admitted" does not equate to "rejected," so don't despair.
