I was just wondering, I havn't heard anything from RPI since I submitted my application. Is it the same for others, or has something gone awry with my application.

Heard nothing as well

I believe the decisions will be online by March 17th for most regular decisions

According to the website, decisions will be posted after 7pm on March 14.

Pi day! :)

I believe that you should have at least gotten an e-mail from them about your application status. Here is what my e-mail said:

VCollege1,

If you would like to be considered for need-based financial aid, you should complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile. The FAFSA is available online at [FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) after January 1, 2009, and the CSS Profile is available online now at https://profileonline.collegeboard.com. Please keep in mind that the sooner you file your FAFSA and the CSS profile, the earlier we will be able to notify you of your financial aid award.

The online status site will be updated weekly as new application materials are received and processed.

We look forward to working with you throughout the application process.

I haven’t heard anything either. One week until decisions though

Are decisions posted on <a href=“Application Management”>Application Management;

^Yes, it’ll appear as an update to your application status

Okay, thanks :)

D got an email this evening saying decisions would be available via email 3/14 at 7PM.

Do they post financial as well, or is it just an accept. or denial type of thing, the rest to follow in the mail? It looks like their accept student day is April 4th, it would be nice to know financial before my Dad forks out money for a hotel up there if it isn’t even affordable.

financial aid comes with it

son got an e-mail today too - saying to check online after 7 pm (EDT) on pi day (- same day as MIT.)
good luck everyone

yes same day as MIT but MIT’s admission time is cooler…

March 14, 1:59 PM

3.14159

yayyyyy haha

For 90+% of MIT’s RD applicants that will quickly fade. It’s not very cool to say “I got rejected on pi time.”

No one likes to be rejected - no matter what time.
Still the humor of it is not wasted on these kids - rejected or not.
RPI and MIT are pretty much the last schools (except for 2 LAC’s that are not high on his list) that S is waiting to hear from. Getting them both on the same day could be a blessing (if he is rejected at MIT but accepted at RPI) or a curse (if he is rejected at both :-[ )
We’ll know soon and then we can start making a plan.

While some may think it may be a frivolous bill…I support the recognition of Pi Day. With the financial mess our country is in - I applaud any bill that will enhance the mathematical abilities of our children.

H. RES. 224

Supporting the designation of Pi Day, and for other purposes.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

March 9, 2009

Mr. GORDON of Tennessee (for himself, Mr. HALL of Texas, Mr. LIPINSKI, and Mr. BAIRD) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Science and Technology

RESOLUTION

Supporting the designation of Pi Day, and for other purposes.

Whereas the Greek letter (Pi) is the symbol for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter;

Whereas the ratio Pi is an irrational number, which will continue infinitely without repeating, and has been calculated to over one trillion digits;

Whereas Pi is a recurring constant that has been studied throughout history and is central in mathematics as well as science and engineering;

Whereas mathematics and science are a critical part of our children’s education, and children who perform better in math and science have higher graduation and college attendance rates;

Whereas aptitude in mathematics, science, and engineering is essential for a knowledge-based society;

Whereas, according to the 2007 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) survey done by the National Center for Education Statistics, American children in the 4th and 8th grade were outperformed by students in other countries including Taiwan, Singapore, Russia, England, South Korea, Latvia, and Japan;

Whereas since 1995 the United States has shown only minimal improvement in math and science test scores;

Whereas by the 8th grade, American males outperform females on the science portion of the TIMSS survey, especially in Biology, Physics, and Earth Science, and the lowest American scores in math and science are found in minority and impoverished school districts;

Whereas America needs to reinforce mathematics and science education for all students in order to better prepare our children for the future and in order to compete in a 21st Century economy;

Whereas the National Science Foundation has been driving innovation in math and science education at all levels from elementary through graduate education since its creation 59 years ago;

Whereas mathematics and science can be a fun and interesting part of a child’s education, and learning about Pi can be an engaging way to teach children about geometry and attract them to study science and mathematics; and

Whereas Pi can be approximated as 3.14, and thus March 14, 2009, is an appropriate day for `National Pi Day’: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) supports the designation of a `Pi Day' and its celebration around the world;
(2) recognizes the continuing importance of National Science Foundation's math and science education programs; and
(3) encourages schools and educators to observe the day with appropriate activities that teach students about Pi and engage them about the study of mathematics.

Ack, I just realised I’d not submitted the CSS form until tonight. I did, however, submit the FASA a month ago. Does this mean I’ll not get any financial aid?

one more day…at least the waiting is almost over
