would MIT let you know somehow if they received something supplemental, like an extra recommendation maybe?

prbly not b/c all my supplemental stuff was in the package my GC sent w/transcript etc. and the secondary school report shows up checked off, but no information about the supplemental stuff in the packet. i think i'll email them sometime next week-that'd prbly be most effective.

give it about 2 weeks. then email or call them

Matt says (in the comments to his supplemental materials entry):

We do not track supplemental materials in the tracking system.

i emailed them about a month ago and asked about if they got everything i sent. they replied in a few days confirming that they got both college transcripts i sent, as well as my official ap scores.

you don't need to send ap scores right? (you just self-report?)

no you dont. they did mention that in the email. i just felt like sending it to be safe. (some anti-collegeboard-ers will bash me for wasting $15)

How long should we wait for our part II to show up, before calmly freaking out, if we sent it by mail?

I would probably wait until the end of next week. If there's anything that actually did get lost, you can easily fax a second copy, but the odds are very good that anything that hasn't shown up by now is just waiting in the queue to be filed and entered into the system.

my SAT scores just showed up today, but my secondary school report ( which as sent in oct 26 )haven't yet. I am not panicing though.
They are probably handling thousands of stuff per day. so just be patient ( 3500 applicants (EA last year) with 2 teacher rec, 1 school report, scores, and being over achievers , many have supplemental materials , and some mailed their apps. so that is like about average 5 pieces of mail per applicant. that is 3500 x5 =17500 . so give them a couple mores days .)

and did i mention you should factor in USPS delay? it took 50 days for me to get my green card last year because USPS drowned them at the local post office (i got them in wet, wrinkled envelopes). it also took 20 days for some ap award letter to go from collegeboard (princeton, nj) to my house (new orleans, la).

it was pretty easy for me. I just emailed the admissions office asking if they had recieved my supplemental rec, and they confirmed it the day after.
