Is it advisable to explain the reason for a grade of "B" in that comment box, or is it pointless? The class is a major-requirement 5-unit course. Basically, I crabbed the first exam - I wasn't able to add into the class until a couple of weeks after, and that affected my preparation for the first exam - I couldn't understand the material very well since I missed a significant chunk of lectures.

I'm thinking I shouldn't. The AdOfficer could probably care less what my situation was.

i would advise against explaining one B. to me it sounds overly defensive and simply unnecessary. remember: sometimes silence speaks louder than words.

you might as well use the entire application to your greatest benefit. i wouldnt shy away from the comments box because im embarassed of explaining a B. especially since its not a b.s. reason.

Only "D/F" grades, gaps in education and other changes that go against any TAG agreement or UC eligibility need to be explained. Explaining any other grades or changes that need not be explained will not have an effect on your admissions; so if you have already submitted the update you don't need to delete the explanation.
