application update...final week of decisions coming up!

what's the rule of thumb on updating applications?

i realize next week is the final decision time, and since i dont know where i stand, im wondering whether it's a good or bad idea to email the admissions officer for my region with updates between the time i submitted to now...

i just made all-region football and though im not an official recruit, i mentioned in a supplemental letter i would definitely walk-on....

also, im having a poem published in an analytical anthology by a university press ....

i'd include these two updates in an email to my admissions officer, but im wondering whether it is a bad idea since they are so overloaded with work and might be annoyed....on the other hand, perhaps it would bring some closure to the fact that i am capable to competing in football at harvard and also testify to my credibility as a writer further....

im not sure what to do, so any and all opinions are welcome...please respond soon though, because i want to decide whether to send this update by tomorrow since this week is the final decision week

Send the info in, rickster99. I wouldn't say that if it did not involve significant achievements, but these new accomplishments are excellent. They like to know the latest information about an applicant as long as it isn't frivolous.
