I’m honestly just feeling awful and wanted to make this a learning lesson for future applicants.
In short, DONT MISS THE DEADLINES.
I submitted my application via the coalition app a few days before the deadline in December but didn’t send my ACT scores until the 6th of January. Apparently the proper final deadline for everything was January 1, but my application in the portal was still valid. I checked last week and it said that my application was ‘not completed by the deadline’ because of (I’m assuming) the test scores being sent a few days after the deadline. It just really sucks as UT Austin was one of my top choices and was really looking to attend in the Summer.
In short, DONT MISS THE DEADLINES. And also good luck to the Class of '24 applicants.
I am sorry and thank you for sharing your story, so future applicants can learn. It’s true. Every single college visit we attended this last spring and summer, they reiterated how important those deadlines were. One school rep said people ask her “What the secret to getting into Princeton?” Her response, “I can’t tell you the secret to getting in, but I can tell you the secret to not be immediately denied and that’s getting your application complete by the deadline!” Most schools will have on their website the last possible administration of an SAT or ACT for consideration. But that also means that the scores have to be expedited so you can’t wait to see the score before you send it if it’s the final administration.
You can always try to appeal your decision but I am not sure if that will do any good.
So sorry @hanazari ! A hard lesson to be sure. But, thank you for sharing this for the current Juniors, soon-to-be rising Seniors, as well as their parents and high school counselors. A very timely reminder.
