Application was submitted October 30th but wasn't put under EA????

I submitted my Michigan application through the Common App on October 30th, 2014, at 9:11 PM, and tonight I got an email saying my application was incomplete. I logged onto my Wolverine account, and checked my application (it was complete), then I sifted through some emails and I saw one from Nov. 3rd that said my application was received, but couldn't be considered for Early Action cause it wasn't received by Nov. 1st???? What should I do??? Would I still have a shot at my application being read for EA decision if I called the school in time???

Dang. Well considering they are about to release their decisions in two days, I doubt it. I would call office though, and see what the appropriate steps are.

Was everything received by Nov 1? If not, you did not qualify for EA.

Everything should have been, according to the Common App.

In mid to late November the admissions office sent out e-mails to all of the students who did not qualify for EA. One of three things most likely happened. 1. Some of your materials never was submitted or came in late. 2. You applied RD instead of EA. 3. The office made a mistake. I’m really surprised that they would notify you in December about this. Try to make a call to the office tomorrow. That’s your best bet. If they cannot evaluate you before December 24th, they may allow you to get a early RD decision. Best of luck to you! Sorry things did not go as planned. I am hoping it was an error in the office.

isaac, did Michigan receive your SAT before November 1? In other words, did order your score report to be sent before October 24?

There are items not sent through CommonApp. Some may have been delayed. Of course, there may be human error involved. Nevertheless, it is too late to do anything. You should have tracked your application much earlier. The RD is rolling, so you are basically early in the RD round. It would not make much difference except that you will not be eligible to some merit scholarships.

I sent my common app the day off and I qualified. I’d call

It’s not about the application submission; they are very lenient with that (it’s not like someone in admissions is sitting in the office on a Saturday night and yanking a plug out of the wall at midnight). It is about all the supporting documentation. Test scores, transcripts, recs, etc. can’t show up on Monday morning. When an app doesn’t qualify, this is almost always the case.

Last year, even for those submitted everything right on time but very close to the deadline would not get their EA result till early January. But in that situation, they are still eligible to the merit scholarship. If OP is not seeking merit scholarship, there isn’t much difference.
