Application worries

I mailed my supplement application on Dec.15th ,i log in on my application status summary checker and there is no data shown for receiving my supplements, doesn't it only take 2 or 3 business days to mail(fromNYC?)The supplement was the last part of my application,BU already received my HS transcript & SAT Scores.I called the admin office and they said "because of the holidays we're closed till jan 5th"

please help me!!

you seem to think that the instant the mail arrives in the binghamton mail room it will be reflected on the status checker!

Due to the high volume of applications received, there may be a delay of 10-15 business days for matching all materials to your application.

Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Check Application Status

note it says BUSINESS DAYS. if they tell you that they are closed for the holidays, why would you think that they are processing applications now? it will probably take even longer to match incoming material with files.

no one here can do anything more for you. if you are still concerned, call them jan. 5.

so if a supplement lets say comes to the office on jan 4th,it's possible the admins can read a jan 4th supplement before mine right?

the admins could just simply dump the whole mail of supplements they received during the holiday break, on a desk and review my supplement after reviewing a supplement that came at jan4th

do you really think that they sit, open the mail, and make decisions as they read the mail they've just opened?

any information coming in has to be put into an applicant's file. an applicant's file is not reviewed until it is complete. there are many different admissions officers -- each generally responsible for a different geographic region -- who then review the completed files. i doubt anyone here can tell you exactly how and when a particular officer may look at any given complete file. right now, they're probably going to be dealing with the EA applications if they really plan to get those decisions out in January like they claim.

given the flood of applications they are getting this year, my GUESS is that if you think you are going to have a great advantage by getting your file complete a week earlier than someone else, you are probably mistaken. my GUESS is that they are going to be trying hard, especially this year. to be getting a real sense of their overall application pool when making their decisions. but these are only my guesses based upon information that is available about just how selective binghamton's admissions are likely to be this year.
