Hey! I have a couple of questions regarding UofA, and any help is appreciated.

I graduate in 2013, but plan on submitting the application soon. At the end of the app, there is space for “The You of A” essay. Are they looking for anything particular, such as what interests me, or what I have accomplished in high school?

How is Gibson Hall? I don’t plan on joining a sorority, and I prefer an all-girls residence hall.

I have a friend who just finished her freshman year. I asked her about Gibson because it has a great location and the rooms look nice online. She said it’s mostly upperclass girls there and that I should stick to a freshman dorm because I’ll make more friends since the older girls already have their group of friends. The other all girls dorms are Reid and Buchanan Drake, which looks kind of gross in the pictures.

I’m working on my application tonight. The essay can only be 350 words so I’m also trying to figure out what to put. Maybe just some strengths and goals? There’s no room to get too much in there.

And nataliec, for me it was near the end of the application. It just said to provide any additional info about yourself. I think it is optional.

There is a part where you list courses that you’ve had or will take in high school. Do they need every class listed, or do they only want the minimum 16 courses listed. I’m also planning apps for a few other schools, and want to make sure I’m doing things correctly! :)

Oh, I didn’t write that in essay form… oops. And when I listed the classes, I think you only need to put the minimum, but I went ahead and listed extra classes like some electives and AP classes that would look good.

I’m currently a freshman at UofA, and on my application from last year I don’t remember writing an essay, but I do know that on the classes I listed every class I had taken, and was in the process of taking. Including AP classes and electives (as nataliec said).

Thank you, Jayfizzy! I hope that I wasn’t supposed to list ALL of my classes because I didn’t do that… I’m sure they’ll see on my transcript anyway.

Yes, for sure! Don’t worry about it! It will all be fine. And make sure that you write really good essays for the scholarships that are offered through the UofA! I didn’t start my application until September, so starting them early is the BEST thing to do.

I listed all of the classes I have taken and the ones I’m scheduled for senior year. I wasn’t sure what to put either but figured more is better.

Yeah, I’m really stressing out about the scholarships! I’m almost positive I’ll get accepted, but the scholarship application is a different issue… I hope I can get a good one!

I just now remembered that the application for the campus-based scholarships come along with the initial application. I believe it comes two business days after you send in your app! Feel free to ask anymore questions! WPS!
