Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):

Rotary Interact Club - (President 11, 12; Event Coordinator - 10) This club was huge for me. One of the largest organizations in our school and had never had a president who was a junior. Worked closely with the adult club and set up book drives in Africa etc. Plenty of time was dedicated to this. Major emphasis on app.

FRC Robotics – (Business Captain, leadership 10th and 11th grade) This was also pretty big for me too. Team went to nationals 3 years in a row so far (this year hope so too). Plenty of success for chairmans award (state chaimans). Plenty of hours put in.

Varsity Track and Field – Member all 4 years, varsity 11,12. Went All Conference for 300M Hurdles. This is pretty important as well.

Marching Band – (Asst. Drum Major) Played marimba all 4 years. Took a ton of time.

Student Council – (Secretary) Elected by popular vote.

NHS – (VP) Elected by popular vote

Relay for Life – (Co-captain) Co led my own team for 4 straight years. Raised over $1000 over the years.

APP – (Secretary) Member for 3 years, leadership for 2. Not as big.. only listed because of position.

Job/Work Experience:
Worked over the summer for 2 years.

Volunteer/Community service:
Ton of hours for Rotary, for FRC, NHS, Relay for Life. Most likely totaled around 1500.

Summer Activities: Boston University RISE Program - Did research in molecular biology

Common App - 10/10
Columbia Essays (not mentioning a lot) - 9/10

Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Large, highly ranked public
Ethnicity: Asian (bad for the apps, still proud of being one)
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: 150K
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): No ones ever been to Columbia...

Reflection

Strengths: ECS
Weaknesses: Grades, AP Tests, Ethnicity and being unable to compete as highly with other applicants...

General Comments:
My school sends plenty of Ivy Leaguers every year, I know better apps than mine.

BUMP

I think you are a competitive applicant for both CC and SEAS. Good luck!
