Application.

How does the MIT application look like?

it looks sexy

The application is definitely more modern, and is not intimidating at all. The application resembles all of MIT's promotional material (very colorful). Last year it was just 2-100 word responses (one about what you do for fun, the other about what you might want to study) and one extended repsonse (choosing from two questions). You also have optional essays that you can write, but you can technically send in as many supplemental essays as you want (just be reasonable).

I love MIT's Application, it's far more better than common app (that's my opinion) and one of the easiest to fill out with content but requires a lot of time if you really want to make a great application ;)

when is the online mit application coming out? they say late summer but havent given a date

At first the MIT app looked really scary because there's an optional section to write about something you've created - an idea, design, project, machine, story, song, poem, etc etc etc. And then you realize it's actually a carte blanche to tell them what's cool about you. Even if it's technically optional, take advantage of it to show what excites you. MIT wants to see passion, and this is the perfect place to show it.

I think last year it came out in late August. I'm almost positive it was out by Labor Day.

I know it was up by August 6th last year (don't know if it was up any time sooner). The paper app came out at the end of July (we received them at MITES), and then I came home and remember registering for MyMIT and doing Part I. One of my friends even had their interview in late August.

Fun fact: If you've signed up for MyMIT a year or so early, and didn't apply, your account should still be active and you'll have all your EC's info before they release it. So like, get a head start on that. :P

Good for you - starting your college applications early! The more time you have to think about the essays, the better. What seems polished now might not seem so great when you look back in a month or two or three... it's nice to get perspective like that on your own work. Good luck! :)

wow u guys are thinking fast. i don't think i started writing anything till... late August. =P

what everyone said is good. but maybe u also don't want to rush into writing a "perfect" essay now, since for me i learned a great deal about applying, how to express myself in the essays, why MIT was for me, etc. as time passed and i listened to great advices from others. And personally, it made much of a difference.

but then again, that may jus be a procrastinator's excuse. ;P
