Application

I was hoping someone could tell me more about the essay/personal statement portion of the law school application. I tried looking for applciations, but this cycle's have already been taken down and next cycle's are not up yet. How many essays are there? I heard there is usually a personal statement and then a diversity statement. Are both supposed to be 2-3 pages? Also, what is the prompt for the personal essay? I want to start brainstorming, but cannot find any info. If it makes a difference, i will be applying to the t10 schools.

The personal statement does not have a prompt. Apparently schools consider "personal statement" to be enough of a prompt on its own. Diversity statements are often optional. Several schools have ostensibly optional "Why us specifically?" essays -- Penn and Michigan come to mind -- that are, bluntly, not optional.

hmm... so then could the personal statement just be the diversity statement. Like for the personal statement we can right about our background and how that has shaped us, and then not even write a diversity statement.

Diversity statements are optional. You don't have to write one at all.
