Application

Hey guys & gals, I have a few questions. But first heres the story:

I applied a week or so ago (once I signed up for my last few classes to finish up my AA at a community college) and the FACTS website seemed to mess up and I never received an email or a payment option for the application fee. So I tried calling FACTS help hotline for hours (over a few days period), even leaving a voice message for them to "call back". After not hearing anything from FACTS ( I still haven't ) I called the USF undergrad admissions office directly where a lady told me that they haven't received my application or else I would have received an email so she told me to redo it although on the FACTS website it said I sent it...

Just a few minutes ago I resent the application (it was all filled out still) and I finally got a payment option and I paid the fee. I received an email for the payment confirmation but I was wondering when will I receive the USF email containing my OASIS account information and all that other crap. Does it usually take a few days or should it have been instant?

Hopefully I'm not doing something wrong or screwed up in any way..

but anyways does anyone have an opinion on my acceptance? I am transferring with an A.A with around a 3.4 GPA. I am only missing two prerequisites for the accounting program which I am hoping to satisfy at USF.

Thanks for any help, I'm stressing out bad (lol). Sorry for the long read.

3.4 is a very good college GPA and should be fine for USF admission as a transfer. You might want to double check with the USF Business College and its accounting school to be sure you have met their prerequisite requirements for admission. Are you applying for summer or fall admission?

You should get a USF ID# in a few days via email, then you can set up your OASIS acct to keep tabs on your admission status. Good luck and Go Bulls!

I applied for next fall. Do you think I will get accepted before I actually receive my AA? Or will they wait for me to pass all of my classes? I just really hope I get the email soon, I’m pretty anxious to hear from them and to make sure they got my transcripts and application.

Another thing, do you have any experience with USF suites? I’m looking at the Iota hall because I want a single bedroom but I want to experience a little of the “dorm life” and meet new people. I hear with the apartments you don’t get a huge opportunity to meet people in your building. Any opinions would be great.

Thanks a lot for the help :)

I entered USF as a new freshman 2 years ago, so I’m not familiar with transfer application mechanics. Hopefully someone else who transfered to USF will chime in with their experience. I’d bet they give you decision spring time before you finish AA, with admission to USF fall 2011 conditional on them checking your final grades your last term. Too, make sure you get your transcript with grades for this fall term to USF, along with your spring course schedule and of course they’ll want your final transcript down the road. Your best bet is probably is to contact USF admissions and ask them to explain time frame you can expect for your admission processing. While you’re talking with them, make sure you’ve met all prerequisite requirements for the accounting program you want to get into.

Iota is a little bit older but is fine if you want a private bedroom, Iota doesn’t have kitchenettes. I don’t think an on campus apartment with a kitchen is really necessary for most students as most students can’t cook decent meals and you don’t have a lot of time to be cooking and cleaning up. I was in Maple Hall my 2nd year and liked it a lot, it’s next to new and is convenient to everything, it’s suite-style and you share bedroom, but I would recommend it for upperclassmen. I think living on campus at least your first year is smart, you might consider an off campus apt. later on–there are lots of them near campus. You might want to call housing now to see how you can tie up a dorm room for next fall, USF will fill dorms up-there will be a wait list before fall time. Good luck.

Its been over a week and still no email, do you think something is up? I tried to call them today but the undergrad office phone was busy for over a hour…

USF was closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Call today.

Well today I checked my Oasis account and I finally got accepted to USF! I am a transfer student with around a 3.3 GPA if anyone is wondering.

But anyways, Im having a hard time setting up my “official” school email? I see where Im suppose to do it but it wont let me choose an email or do anything, it just says “email set to null”. If anyone can help me with this that would be great if not ill just call them in the next few days about it.

There should be a link (or at least there used to be) right on the page that you follow to make your NetID. You’re probably getting that message because the netid you’re trying to use is already being used, a friend of mine had the same problem.

I already have a netid and I can see where you change your email but it doesnt let me do anything on the actual page, its pretty annoying. And also what is the login for the living on campus? It wont let me login there either… So far USF website has been nothing but a headache for me -.-

The login for housing is your U number

They received everything from me on Oct 19. I am 26 and already have a BA from University of Louisville. 3.5 gpa in history and french. I have been checking every weekday, but still waiting to hear back. I have lived in Miami for over a year now and am really hoping to go to USF. Do you think that it hurts me to already have a BA as opposed to an AA?

Also, congrats!! I bet you were relieved to get the good news.

I don’t know how it works getting in for a second bachelor’s degree. I have some degree holders in some of my classes doing a one year post graduate program to complete course work to get into graduate degree programs. USF might be hesitant about letting in students for 2nd bachelor’s degrees because of overcrowding. The attached link talks a little about 2nd bachelor’s degrees. Did you line up your ducks with USF asking admissions people already if there is a problem coming in for a 2nd bachelor’s degree? Too, did you firm up that you qualify for Florida residency? Wouldn’t hurt you to call admissions office and see what’s up with your application. Anyway, best of luck!

Thanks Lizard,
I had just read your response and then checked OASIS to find that I had been accepted today!!! I was so happy. It took 3 months, but it was worth the wait. So I’m gonna visit USF next week. I was accepted to FIU in Miami also, but I kind of already have my mind made up to attend USF. Thanks again and if any applicants ever have questions you can e-mail me at rhkimb02@aol.com

Congrats rhkimb02 and USFfan! You’re gonna like USF! Kimbo Slice is from Miami; is that you Kimbo–bring your football cleats!

thanks guys, I’m pretty stoked and congrats on getting accepted also! It was around 3 months for me too, which is weird.

Anyways I finally got into housing (there was an error somewhere that they had to straighten out for me to be able to login) and it looks like I will be staying in the Holly apartments.

I was thinking about a suite to meet more people but I really like my own space and freedom, plus I like to eat healthy and cook for myself (yeah a guy who would rather cook then go out).

Fall semester couldnt come fast enough!

Oh and lizard do you know if I have to send in an application to the college of buisness, I couldnt find it online anywhere and I have no idea how that stuff works :(. I am going to be giving them a call either tomorrow or monday though

^Yea, you need to talk to an academic advisor in the business college about getting in its limited access program. They’ll look at what you’ve completed and tell you what you need to do. USF’s accounting program enjoys an excellent reputation. Call them Monday. Too, Holly apartments are nice and they are conveniently located on campus.

and thanks again for all the info/help
