Does anyone know if it matters when the different elements of an application are sent? In other words, if I want to send my high school transcript now, my college transcript in a few days, and my recommendations in a week or so, does it make any difference to the recipient whether the different forms and etc are sent at different times? Perhaps it matters depending on the college?

No, because you usually don’t have any control over when they’re sent. As long as you have them sent before the deadline, they will start a file when the first item arrives. Your transcripts and recs are sent by the schools, and the teachers that write them, so you really have no control over the order they arrive. If you use the common app and send electronically, they will download everything once you send the application.

Your application won’t be read until everything is there. But as long as it arrives before the application cut-off date, it is OK.

For financial aid, the sooner you send that paperwork the better. Sometimes the money runs out. If you are applying for scholarships, check the due dates. Many are due by December 1.

Thank you!
