Applications are up on Gateway to Prep Schools

Let the madness begin.

Thanks for posting this, I have been keeping my on at that. Also, very funny statement, “Let the madness begin.” I totally agree!

I can’t wait to see what the applications look like.

I hate that Gateway to Prep Schools with a fierce passion. I just couldn’t win when it came to that site.

^^ really? i adored it, it kept everything so organized :slight_smile: but it froze up on me once so i lost a lot of data :confused: so, lesson: type everything up on MS word and copy & paste into gateway. fool-proof, woo

I LOVED THAT WEBSITE! And I agree with DiveAlive. Back up your essays on as many things as possible (hard copies, USBs, desktop) because you don’t want to lose everything and have to to do it over.
I hated that Exeter wasn’t a part of it, though. -_-haha

Which schools use Gateway?

@deerfield15

I sort of agree!! I dislike the site, but it is organized. Filling out my information wasn’t to hard.

My one issue is that they will not let me see the essays until I complete part 1, which makes everything so much more difficult. I want it to be perfect and what if I want to change something, you know? What if it doesn’t match up? Ahh! Why can’t boarding school applications be easier? Well, I guess that would take the fun out of it…

I think that my dislike comes from having so many technical issues. But that’s just my horror story. The site’s organization is really appealing.

@rizzledrizzle,
Concord Academy, Deerfield Academy, Groton School, The Hotchkiss School, Kent School, The Marvelwood School, The Newman School, Oldfields School, Phillips Academy Andover, Portsmouth Abbey School, The Putney School, St. Paul’s School, St. Timothy’s School, The Thatcher School, and Westminster School.

A lot more than last year.

I know for sure that Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and Andover use it and I think that SPS, Groton, and Loomis Chaffee may use it.

wow, gateway is sure getting a lot more popular… i wonder when exeter is (and if) going to jump in the boat

That was great advice from DiveAlive. Absolutely type everything into a word processing program and then cut/paste into online applications at the end.

Also, get familiar with the character/word count feature of your word processor! :)

HAHAHA. I’m beyond happy that applications are behind me. Phew.

But yeah. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
Everyone’s so prepared… I only realized I wanted to apply for boarding school in… late September.

Kent just posted their essays on Gateway to Prep Schools. I think Kent’s the only school so far that’s posted them.

So far Andover and Westminster haven’t. What are the topics?

Kent has 6 short answers questions up, and 1 essay for the applicant. The essay topic can be a choice of:

 1. What is one fictional character you relate to and why?
 2. Describe what role you play in your family and how you fit into your personal family dynamic.
 3. Write an email to your best friend on the day you graduated from Kent.

And, there’s a 300 word limit. This doesn’t seem too bad…

YEAH! Andover’s essays ARE UP!

So far Kent, Andover, and Deerfield have posted their essays. Any other schools that are up?

Oh, and Middlesex isn’t going to post their application until September 15. Taft won’t post theirs until September 1. Loomis is going to post theirs “in September.” St. Mark’s has already posted the PDF of their application, but I’m not sure about their online application. The Hotchkiss Candidate Profile is available, however the PDF of the application won’t become available until September.

BUMP. Taft just posted their application. St. Mark’s online application is also available. Loomis has yet to post their application.
