I am an alum interviewer for Lafayette - the email I received today mentioned a drop from last year's record level of applications, but Admissions was still confident that they would be able to build a good class for '13. I have five interviews to do so far for applicants in my area, had over ten last year..

Baylor-- although this article is a bit cryptic (and looks like it contains a key typo), I could interpret/calculate that Baylor's apps are up ~24% thus far in the count.

From the Boston Globe:

anybody have an idea about Vanderbilt? I saw that they were up 30%! Anyone have any ideas why? - no supplement - the commons -football team? Could that really account for 30%?!

^^^ Are you sure you aren't reading last years Vandy stats? Their numbers went up 30% last year...

What's surprising to me about the Harvard number is that this is only the third year in a row they've set a new record. What the heck happened 3-1/2 years ago for Harvard to have a down year? Was that the middle of the Larry Summers controversies?

Harvard apps growth this year = 5% to 6% (~29,000/27,462)

Dean of Admissions Greg Zaiser supports Murphy’s statements, saying Elon has had more students applying early action and early decision than ever before. However, the number of total applicants might have dipped by “a tiny margin,” but nothing remotely significant.

Princeton University for the fifth consecutive year has set a record for students applying for admission, receiving 21,869 applications for the class of 2013. Over the past six years, the University has experienced a 60 percent increase in applications.

The number of applicants for the class of 2013 represents a 2 percent increase over last year's record of 21,370 completed applications for the class of 2012, which had an applicant pool 6 percent larger than for the class of 2011. Applicants for that class were up 8 percent over the applicants for the class of 2010, whose applicant numbers represented a 6 percent increase over those for freshmen for the 2009 class.
