How does UCSD review freshman applications? Like what do they look at the most.
Do they care about GPA more of SAT more? etc
Thanks!

UCSD uses the “point system.” You can look up the point system online. The most emphasis is but on you’re weighted UC GPA. Then you’re SAT I scores and SAT II’s. They also look at the classes you took/ are taking, community service (must have 100 hours to get any points), clubs, leadership, awards, work experience, financial hardships and struggles, and your essays.

No more point system, actually. All holistic.

yah its all holistic… bascially they do look at your grades and your GPA and SATs and all the academic rigor and all… but that really isn’t going to be worth a gazillion points. Now they re looking at everything in a “holistic” view, meaning they are going to look over everything and consider you as either a perfect candidate or a “non perfect candidate”…if you look at UCLA and UCB’s admission process its the same, holistic.

to phrase it nicely, they look carefully through each application and pick the ones they want, the ones that suit the university. So if you have bad grades and bad academic rigor and all the academic stuff, but are above excellent in everything else community service, clubs, leadership, awards, work experience, financial hardships and struggles, essays… chances are you might get in.

here is a link for more info… its not on UCSd, but general purposes:
