Who’s looking into the honors college?

I got in a few days ago. I don’t want to go to Cal Poly Pomona though. It’s one of my safeties.

Yup I just got in 2. I am not going though. It was just a back up. I am going to my school of choice no matter what and I got a back up plan that only locals can use.

When you finally found out you got in Cal Poly, did you receive the good news via email? Or did they send you a letter through the mail?

^I don’t know… but I would like to know how where you able to worry a shell? I have been trying to do that for some time now, unfortunately, to no avail.

Is “eligible for consideration” a bad sign? I know what it means but i want to get accepted already!

Haha, it’s not worried a shell!!! It’s worried “as hell”! As in, I’m stressing out like crazy about getting into the school of my choice.

elgible for consideration means they will admit u, but they need like your transcripts. So based on what you put so far they will admit you.

I sent out all my transcripts last week. My first choice is Cal Poly SLO. And I am a local, so I am relying on that edge to get me in. I didn’t take any extra courses, but I have a 3.2 GPA for a major that the min to get in is a 3.0 I just hope the pool for my major is low and that local edge swings me in. Otherwise there is also the hardship petition.

@David12345 How do you know this? “They WILL” admit me? I applied with a 3.41 gpa and had a 4.167 GPA for this semester (7th semester). DO they take 7th semester grades into account?

They have already made their decision. They just want to see that you have passed all of your classes now.

I check my decision today and it says “Prov Admit File w/Foreign docs”. Does anyone know what that exactly means? Thanks

Hi everybody!

I practically lived on this website last year as I am now a first year at Cal Poly Pomona! I know this is the most stressful time, and I can assure you, I was definitely in your shoes. I was a tier 2 applicant (I lived outside of the priority admissions zoning), HS senior with a 3.36 GPA. I had 10 semesters of math, 10 semesters of fine arts, and had a 26 on the ACT. I was rejected…

I was “Eligible for Consideration” from March to end of April. This DOES NOT mean you got in. It just means you met the criteria that they are looking for and make it to the “next round” of the admissions process. I was then waitlisted in April, then rejected in May. According to every statistic I read in books and online, I should have been admitted. But because we were in a budget crisis, I was not.

The day after my graduation (June 24th), I received an email saying I was readmitted after they realized they did not admit enough students. I was thrilled considering I did not try to appeal my rejection.

I wanted someone to answer my questions last year so badly, so I figured my story might be of some help. All I can say is, the worst thing you could possibly do is get your hopes up. Yesterday, all Cal Poly Pomona students received a letter from the Dean, Dr. Ortiz, telling us that our school is in a 25 million dollar deficit. This means admissions will further be cut.

Keep in mind, the admissions department is EXTREMELY under-staffed. Last year, for the 35,000 applications that were sent in, there were only EIGHT people reviewing them. If you want to go to a school who is efficient, communicative, and easy to work with, go to a UC. A majority of the students who were admitted were not notified until after the May 1st deadline. So if worst comes to worst, do not wait for CPP, send in your enrollment deposit somewhere else. You can always get it refunded.

Eligible for consideration doesn’t mean you got in. It just means you have meet the minimum requirements for applying CSU.

I got conditionally accepted to Pomona to animal science (which is one of the impacted programs). But I’m kind of worry if they’ll change their decisions after seeing my first semester grades (since I have 2 Cs T___T)

I have the same thing. 3.45 GPA transfer for Business Adm.

crabbie… seriously… i got 2 C’s first semester too… and i didnt even get in yet… hope they will be lenient about it…

@ ricardo1993: good luck! you may want to check often though since i just saw mine and i didn’t even receive an email about it. but my application was processed on nov 1st… and yea, hopefully they won’t notice too much about the Cs > <
