My son was accepted in late January. We’ve been waiting on other rejections (LOL) and after yesterday’s thump from UCSD, he’s officially a Bronco!

We’re both pretty excited, actually. We, too, went to the Showcase & were very impressed. He’s a Civil Engineer major/admit.

We’re waiting to hear from KHC.

Also applied to: CPSLO (rejected); UCLA (rejected); UCSD (rejected)

Cal Poly Pomona is experiencing its own golden era with selectivity on the rise, albeit horrible budget contains, President Ortiz has been able to recognize the need for alumni support and the $150 million capital campaign has already amassed over $120 million at its halfway mark. With kids like lollen, CPPmom’s son and a few other smart and competitive students joining the ranks of CPP; it will soon be the next academic superstar like Cal Poly SLO is. Congrats!

Sorry about you student’s other rejections’ letters I know they could demoralize our kids. However, my son is the academically competitive type and has loved his experience at Cal Poly Pomona, and I’m sure your son will too. You will save plenty of money for grad school, have a low student-to-faculty ratio, and get that hands-on learning experience that is invaluable in today’s tough economic climate.

My son tells me that engineering students at Cal Poly Pomona are very pampered and have no trouble getting the classes they need in order to graduate, the toughest classes to get are those GEs offered by other departments.

We’re really happy & excited! We did the SIR last night & Brendan was getting with his buddy, Martin, to figure out the roomie contract. The “KNOWN ROOMMATE” factor was another huge positive aspect to going to CPP. He has a good friend starting in the fall, too.

My daughter graduated in December (a semester early!) from Point Loma Nazarene Univ. in San Diego with a BA in Philosophy & Theology. The fact that she was SO well taken care of among a student body of 2400 undergrad (MUCH smaller than their high school! ;-)) made me very “nervous” about sending Brendan off to the BIG CITY that is UCSD (his #1). Knowing that he’ll be on a smaller campus and after meeting the VERY caring faculty in the Engineering department, makes me happy. I am much more sure that he won’t be just a number at CPP.

I REALLY hope that he gets into KHC, too. He THRIVES on discussion and “what if…?” and close connections. It’s not just the small class sizes that intrigued him, but the pedagogy of the curriculum.

Unfortunately, for us, the bookstore is closed (Spring Break) or I would have been there Saturday afternoon buying tshirts and sweatshirts and a pennant to hang in my classroom. As it is, I bought us both a t-shirt online yesterday. Can’t wait to sport the green & gold (coincindentally the same school colors as my daughter!).

Again, thanks for the welcome & I’m excited for Brendan to start meeting more of his 2015 classmates. Will anyone else be at the Engineering Day on April 9th?

Admitted as a Computer Science major today!
My stats are pretty low:
3.52 GPA
1550 SAT
9 AP/IB/Honor courses taken.

I was disappointed to find that I was waitlisted for UCR, and then rejected (expected though…) from UCSB today…being admitted to CPP gave me such a relief, as I only applied to 5 colleges.

@cppmom I’ll be there on Bronco Engineering Day, April 9th! since I wasn’t invited to attend UCSD’s Admit Day (lol you can tell I’m still bitter :p)

hahahah well. I won’t put “lolleen,” but my real name isn’t far from it. “colleen” will be on my nametag, so if you see an asian “Colleen” do come up to me! lol. if I’m gonna be a Bronco, I want to have a friend going in. :)

I have been accepted as a provisional admit out of highschool I applied for housing and it said first time freshmen couldn’t access the suite contract yet, but I put the suites as my first choice… Does anyone know if I have a good chance at getting a suite? Or what I can do to make sure I get a suite instead of a dorm???

Gpa 3.1
Sat reading 520 math 550
cs 250 hours
Ec’s clubs and advanced dance… Rotary youth leadership… But csu’s only take gpa, sat, and course selection into account

“For new, incoming students: If you are interested in living in the suites: Freshman are not eligible to live in the suites for their first year. If you are a freshman, please complete an application for the Halls. Transfer or current Cal Poly students who are not residents may apply for the Residential Suites”

Freshmen can get into te suites… They don’t have enough dorms for all the freshmen… Some upperclassman were actually saying that the only big difference between suites and the village was the suites have freshmen
