Applied, but....

Hello!

I'm an international student. I've applied to community colleges in the NYC-area (CUNY) for Spring 2015, but I've started to consider to maybe work harder, save even more money and apply to a 4-year college instead in circa 1-2 years.

If I get admitted to any of the community colleges for Spring 2015 that I've now applied to and choose to contact the college, telling them that I'm not going to attend - will this affect my future plans to apply to the same community colleges or even a 4-year college in any way?

Also.. does anyone know if it's true that SAT ain't necessary to take and submit to your application at some colleges and universities? I've been checking out York College in NYC and they say the SAT ain't required for admission, but they prefer it.

Thanks! :-)

No it shouldn’t.

It is not binding and you don’t need to design immediately.

I would advise against this plan. Tuition is rising, aid to internationals is decreasing. Go now while you can. It’s unlikely that you will make enough to even cover 1 years worth of tuition if it is being mainly funded by you. Go to BMCC or Kingsborough for 2 years. Then, try to transfer into one of the CUNYs (which have policies where the MUST accept you), or try to transfer into a private school in NY.

The point is that I’m able to get financial aid from Sweden (CSN) during my studies and it’s most likely that the financial aid and my savings now, will only cover 2 years at the community college and that’s it. So, I’m only able to get an Associates Degree today, with my savings and financial aid. That’s why I’m considering waiting 1-2 years, work and save more to be able to apply to a community college again and then have enough money to transfer.

But I don’t know if it will affect my possibilites to get in to the same community college in the future when I reapply, if I decide not to go this time.

May I ask what school you attended?
