Hey everyone. I'm interested in pursuing a career in finance so I decided to apply to Cornell's undergraduate business program since it is supposed to be very good. My main concern though is that I may not be up to par with the rest of the students applying there. Could anyone give me a little feedback about my chances? My current stats are:

-3.5 UW GPA (I go to a very competitive school that has an average SAT of about 1300, but I'm still concerned about my gpa)
-SAT I: 700 M 630 CR 630 W
-SAT II: 660 Math II 670 Chem 650 Physics

Honors/AP courses:
-Chemistry Honors
-AP US History
-AP Physics B
-AP Biology
-AP Calculus AB
-AP English Language and Composition

EC's:
-Piano (7 years)
-Class Secretary (11th grade)
-Debate (3 years)-Competed in State tournament in Junior year.
-Almost 50 hours of community service at Children's Hospital and preschool. ( I was in a mood for helping children..lol)
-I am also very interested in the stock market. I have my own small portfolio that I've bought stocks with. My return on equity has been nearly about 50% since I started in June of 2005.

I'd really appreciate if anyone could comment on the likeliness of me getting accepted. Thanks a lot again.

You seem a smart enough candidate, but your scores are a little low. Your GPA might get you out, so make sure your SATs are very high, or (preferably and,) bump your GPA up. Hit 700+ in all sections of SAT I and your SAT IIs. Slightly weak ECs as well, so that might not help a lot. Write good essays, and its a possibility.

Again, this is an applicants view, so cant take anything I say as how it will be in the admissions office. Just like to state the obvious - that higher scores are better and will get u better chance.

Grades and test scores are slightly below, but still possible to get in. But, I got in with a slightly lower SAT but a higher GPA. They'll like the stock market related activities becuase it shows how you already had interests in business. That's what helped me a lot. Good luck!

I take it your application is finished and in. I like your stock market work. That will make your application memorable. I think your grades and scores are well within Cornell's acceptable range. Your volunteer work is also impressive. At this point, it's just up to fate.
