funny how grossly similar that thread is compared to this one. hopefully I won't be like those who ended up asking how to appeal the decision!
I'm glad Dean J's more active on the thread this year though.

I don't know you'd ask to appeal the decision unless there really was a mistake...

when Dean J said decisions would be up after school, was that 5 or 7, I'm kinda confused..sorry

will the decision be posted under status, and if so, where in there? i just don't want to be thrown off guard if it comes up right after you log in or something.

I wouldn't look at it as an appeal, but as a second push to get over the hump and get accepted regular decision.

If any of you is deferred, the first thing to do is to take a deep breath and don't panic. Do find out, if you can, what was behind the decision to say neither "Yes" nor "No" and then figure out if there is a realistic way to try to move that to a "Yes." Contact the University. Also go over your application and think about your characteristics. Get trusted friends, teachers, counselers, siblings, parents, or whoever else might help to do the same with you. Look in particular for things you did not include or emphasize, but probably should have. Look also for patterns, interrelations, characteristics, and activities that you can combine and thereby amplify. Treat your contacts with the University as an opportunity to send a series of short, focussed ads. Have your additional recommender echo your points if you can.

Good luck.

i just saw that they extended the date. Hopefully there are less people applying. Anways, thanks for the info grace. I hope I don't get deferred though. I will be sad though :(

Today students at my school were happily showing their W&M acceptance letters. The teachers and the students were celebrating and talking about it. I have to admit I was a little bit jealous that they knew already where they will spend the next 4 years of their lives.

i have a question for all of the EDs for UVA; does that means that you are required to withdraw all your other applications if accepted?

Umm, yea mojojojo. Do you even know what ED is??

yes, but not all early decisions require you to withdraw applications. Thats why i was wondering.

Early decision acceptance is binding.

yea i know, but for schools like cal poly its not binding...thats why i was asking, because the process differs in every school. :p

If it's not binding, then it's not early decision. HTH.

cal poly is prob early action or rolling or smth

Decisions will be posted at...

Drum roll, please...

I feel like the woman who calls the numbers for the lottery...

6:30 PM on Friday

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

We're "gonna" complete our review adhering to our standards. I would hope that students wouldn't question that. After all, that last minute grade change or late teacher recommendation could have been yours.

I'm signing off from College Confidential for a while. Good luck, all. Check the blogs for updates until regular decision draws closer.
