Applied Math at MIT

How does applied math compare to other majors?
Easier than engineering? Easier than pure math? Harder than econ? Etc.

I'm also interested in computer science. How does computer science compare?

Would it be possible for someone with a relatively weak math or comp sci background to major in these successfully? My only programming knowledge comes from AP Computer Science in 10th grade (and I've probably forgotten most of it), and as for math, I made a B in diff eq last semester :P

Applied math is easier in that there are fewer specific requirements for the major, and an emphasis on your putting together a series of coherent applied mathematics subjects in a way that makes sense for you. Whether the material is easier or harder than any other fiedl is really dependent on the person.

But if you are looking for the easy majors at MIT, you will be looking for quite some time.
