Applied Math Major and CS minor

Hello, I'm a senior in high school and I've started to apply for some universities in the U.S. (I'm from Mexico). I'm fairly certain I want to major in Applied Math but I don't know what to minor in, either economics or CS. The thing is, I used to want to work in Wall Street but after doing some research, I realized that lifestyle wasn't right for me and I would much rather work in California (Silicon Valley or LA) but I don't know what kind of job I can get with an applied math major. I know it's one of the most versatile majors in term of work options.

My ideal job would be one where salary is high (maybe greater than $60,000 although I don't know how realistic this is for a student just out of college), there is a great opportunity for mobility (a job where I have the opportunity to go up the ladder and not just stay in the same position my whole life). Also, I would love a job where I have to be creative and one in which I'm surrounded by smart and positive people. I would like to ultimately start my own company in that industry.

Again, I don't know what kind of industry in California offers this so I would like to know what kinds of jobs I could get with an applied math major and also, what do you think would be more useful, a CS or an economics minor?

Thank you.

Highly recommend CS. In Silicon Valley that’s what everything is, and they pay is great coming out of college (Generally it is right around the 60 thousand mark).
