Tufts doesn't have an applied mathematics major, right? Can anyone shed any light on this? I was originally thinking about chemistry, but I think I'd really like applied mathematics. This is something I'd obviously talk about when I'm at Tufts (I'm graduating soon from HS), but I'm just curious if anybody has any information on applied math. Thanks.

No applied math major at Tufts as you say, but there are enough courses in the math department to design your own major. Here’s an example of a possible list of courses that you could take to fulfill a math major that would be more application-focused. These courses are offered every year, but taking Math 50/150 (special courses like mathematical neuroscience and modeling) in place of a few of them would be an option as well.

Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Real Analysis I, Abstract Algebra I, Applications of Advanced Calculus, Non-linear Partial Differential Equations, Numerical Linear Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Probability, Statistics.

There are obviously many variations on this that one could do to complete a math major.
