Applied Math

what do people do with this major? are there any jobs for it or do they (app. math majors) all go to grad school?

They probably get jobs similar to ones CS majors get. Also, a fair number of them probably become actuaries.

Look at the website for the Society of Industrial and Applied Math (SIAM). There is a lot of information there for students, including profiles of people who use applied math in their work.

Who is most likely to be successful at an specific job. A Applied Math major or CS major?

Not to be trite, but it depends on the job. If it's in IT, then CS majors would do better. If it's a modeling job, then Applied Math majors have the edge.

Ok thanks Weasel8488.

So if someone double majors in Math and Computer Science, he will have the edge over any CS major or Applied Math major?

Yes I would say so. The question then becomes, "Is it worth the extra effort?"
