Hello,
Is someone studying for a degree in applied mathematics? Or does someone have a degree in this field? What do you do now? What is your job like? Would you recommend it?

The curriculum varies by school. My major was a combination of OR & CS, which looks a lot like applied math at some schools and not so much at others.
Now I’m a systems and/or software engineer developing embedded controls. I’ve done other things, but I like doing this and what a luxury it is to enjoy one’s work!
I’d recommend applied math, but do recommend combining it with a CS or other marketable minor as that should really help get the first job. The first job at the very least gives you some breathing room while you figure out what you like and dislike. That first job may also be a lot more than the very least.
Personally, I think it provides a very flexible and durable foundation on which to build your life’s work.
Hope that helps.
Thank you @50N40W. That is a great answer
