I would like to know if any people major in this and intend to use it in business.

Now I also have a more general question: Why do people major in Applied Mathematics? It seems that the majority of Mathematics majors to me are teachers. Do most young Mathematics majors who get a degree and decide to teach do so simply because they are not good at Mathematics to use it in a field in the markets? Also I don't hear about many Applied Mathematics majors. Is it because they are all working at top jobs? And can anyone guess why many Mathematics majors did not decide to major in Applied Mathematics? Is Applied Mathematics too hard or what?

And finally, is Applied Mathematics lucrative?

i thought applied mathematics is more on the engineering, physics, or whatever side of things? the type of math we learn in school are pure mathematics, which i assume is just a mathematics major? the thing with teachers.. well you have econ teachers, music teachers, geography teachers etc etc. there just has to be someone teaching them, sometimes becuase they arent good enough for something else, sometimes jsut because they like to teach, who knows?

haha im not really answering your question here i guess :P

Oh I read that "Math Will Rock Your World" article.

And everything, yeah apparently it is. My Calculus teacher told me today that it was pretty easy compared to pure Mathematics. Oh she doesn't suck as a teacher by the way. I don't remember why I posted that.
