I applied to some schools as a transfer student for next semester, but I've decided to stay at my school for another semester and re-apply next semester. Should I call the schools I haven't heard from an request they change my application date? Do schools do this? Can I defer admission if I'm in? What if I just let them accept/reject me and don't act on it and reapply again next semester, will that look bad/hinder my chances at acceptance? Thank you!

If I were you, I would call ASAP (depending on what coast the schools you applied to are on, most admissions offices are probably closed for the day). Tell them you’re withdrawing your application. Waiting for a potential acceptance is so wrong – transfer stats for admissions are pretty low as it is, so if you wait, are accepted and know you don’t even want to attend, you’ve taken a spot from someone who really does want a spot at that school.

If you defer admission, you’d have to leave your current school and take a semester/a year off. I don’t think there’s a college that lets you defer admission to stay at a different school.

You can always reapply later.
