Applied to NB SAS

<p>Repost from "What are my Chances ?"</p>

<p>Applied to Rutgers NB School of Arts and Sciences on October 14th and I've yet to hear anything back yet. I'm getting a bit nervous as many of my friends who applied later than myself have heard back already</p>

<p>Stats:
3.0 GPA (Cumulative 4.0 scale)
Medical excuse for horrid sophomore year GPA (Tuberculosis Diagnosis Soph year)
Upward grade trend: 2.1 Sophomore year GPA, 3.5 Junior Year GPA unweighted
450 Volunteer hours at local hospital
LGBTQ/Atheism Activist
Great Essay on embracing my homosexuality and going from being morbidly obese to fit. Also exemplified the fact that I'm going to use my experience to help others in my essay. And made sure to stress how much I changed between my soph and junior year; going from a 2.1 GPA to a 3.5, coming down from 220lb. to 170lb., coming to terms with being gay, volunteer work, etc.)
1620/2400 SAT (550 CR, 540 WR, 530 MATH)
10 Honors/1 AP
Also African-American and in-state if that helps</p>

<p>I think your fine, your grades and sats are good & you have the ec’s so i think you won’t have a problem!</p>

<p>@jadepari‌ My SAT might be passable for RU NB (1710-2040 is the middle 50%) but my GPA certainly isn’t… :/. Their middle 50% has a GPA range of 3.5-4.0. I’m nowhere near that. I’m hoping they take my situation sophomore year into consideration but who knows.</p>

<p>They will take that into consideration as long as it is well explained and remember that the range is only the middle 50%, meaning there have been people with less who got in. Don’t sell yourself so short. You have the dedication to improve, ECs, a challenging schedule and alot more things they can take into consideration. Good luck!</p>

<p>@mfiction97‌ the middle 50% for gpa 3.5-4.0 is actually on a 4.5 scale. On the bottom of this, <a href=“http://admissions.rutgers.edu/academics/admissionsprofile.aspx”>http://admissions.rutgers.edu/academics/admissionsprofile.aspx&lt;/a&gt;, it says, “* Grade-point average is on a weighted scale from 0 (“F”) to 4.5 (“A+”).”</p>

<p>@heydip123‌ Wait… so my weighted GPA with Rutgers’ re-calculation would be a 3.375 on a 4.5 scale? Are you sure? That would make my day.</p>

<p>Here’s my stats:</p>

<p>3.19 GPA (increased from Freshman and Sophomore year GPA’s)
SAT Scores: 1540/2400 (this score is from last June; retook it on Nov 8 and I feel like I did much better)
ACT Score: 21 (I might retake it, I did poor and I wasn’t prepared for it)
3 AP Classes (Bio, English and Psychology), 5 honors classes, rest are CP.</p>

<p>EC’s:
Track & Field (Long Distance) for 3 years.
Cross Country for 3 years.
Key Club for two years (Fresh and Soph)
Leo & Interact Club for 3 years (current)
Computer Club for 2 years (current)
40+ hrs. of community service and counting.</p>

<p>… and I don’t know if this’ll get me in, but my sister is close with the EOF people (she was in it, went to Rutgers and just recently graduated with her masters) and said once I apply to Rutgers (did about half the application this morning, gotta do my essay and other stuff. Everything will be finalized before Thanksgiving) she’ll try to get me in it. Again, I doubt this’ll help with my application process but it’s a possible factor, if I do manage to get into it. I’m also in-state and of Bangladeshi descent, if ethnicity is even a considerale factor.</p>

<p>So, how’re my chances at SAS NB?</p>

<p>@mfiction97 seems like it lol. good luck.</p>
