I think the prestige thing makes sense with a country like China where not everyone who graduates high school can attend college. I love all the colleges I applied to but there were a couple more I liked but didn't apply to because my parents didn't think it would be "worth the investment".

one china.... come one, lets just admit that we're being nice to china because of their economy and our trade deficit

um...you do realize that you are talking to a lot of people with close personal ties to china who could care less about the trade deficit? your statement is based on old stereotypes...so much for the educated liberal.

don't worry, sempitern has a history of bashing institutions, governments, you know, whatever. i personally think it'd be better to do something productive with your time.

unfortunately, sempitern is everywhere.

lol............. not bashing china, in an earilier post I referred to it as the worlds next superpower

and yes, I am everywhere watching everything. like a hawk (lol, with my eyesight I'm as blind as a bat)

i'm blind too...my glasses are like half an inch thick

I'm pretty bad. I'm like -4.5 with stigmatism. Thank God for contacts.

wow...i thought-3.5 was bad. my other eye is only -2.5 funny story:
the first time i got my contacts my eyesight was really good like -1.5
i broke my right contact within the first 7 days, was too scared to tell my mom so i went through all of 7th grade with only one contact in my eyes...hence the difference in my vision.
mitchell: high five to all people with astigmatism!

hahaha, wow... new opinion question... would u guys apply to a school to appease ur parents and relatives who are ignorant about us institutions... or one u kinda sorta like, but is less famous... i.e. penn/jhu... as compared to cornell or columbia... yea i know cornell and penn are pretty equal overall, but cornell is more famous... don't bash me for saying that, but cornell's engineering is pretty kick as.s

who is going to school, you or your parents?

hehe...i did both. i applied to georgetown over my parents objections because i really liked it but i applied to cornell mainly to appease my parents. though the school is great, the people and the environment are offputting. and my parents are gungho about penn. they want me to go so badly.

lol...the question for asians, where it's tradition for parents to see kids through college, is who's paying for college, you or your parents?

Parents are paying.

They're such prestige whores lol. I mentioned Cornell and they were like "worst Ivy, you can't apply there" :P.

lol, I applied to the huntsman program

mitchell, my parents' test is to mention all of my schools to their equally ignorant friends and if the friends don't recognize the names, the schools must suck.

Sempitern applied to Huntsman as a safety guys, we have a genius.

My parents are paying for college (not a lot, Penn was REALLY generous). They are more than happy to pay for it...at first they wanted me to do Harvard EA...I was like Hell no. So, yep, the day they found out what the Huntsman Program was was the day I got accepted.

hehe my parents don't care either. I can apply wherever but most of the schools I'm applying are good enough for them.

Haosquared - lol which eye is your better one now? The one that had the contact or the one without? I heard alot of different things about how wearing glass/contact vs. not affects your vision.

dang, my vision's like a LOT worse than yours hao, and wow, i can't believe u went thru 7th grade w/ one contact
did u like... close the un-contact-ed eye a lot?

whoa, huntsman as safety? genius, indeed

also, that's pretty funny catch. actually, my mom only found out where i was applying when mail came in from the schools. otherwise she wouldn't have any idea. oh wait, and when i asked my dad to fill out certain fin. aid forms. eh.

applied to huntsman but chose bio as alternate, so yes.... safety safety safety...... lol, people need to chill

definitely the eye without the contact is MUCH better...I think because I forced the good eye to strain too much.

and WHAT IS IT about Asian parents and Harvard EA??? That's like what every single fob in the U.S. does.
