I moved here when I was 5 and I quit Chinese school because I hated it (and I didn't seem to get any better). Now I really regret it.

u ain't azn eibrahim...

anyway, I too quit chinese school when I was in 4th grade... it didn't work out since the teacher had both an english and chinese accent. she couldn't pronounce either language correctly. although i think she had the dialect from some rural area in china which i'm unfamilar with since i came from the mainland. i'm trying to pick it up again at another school around philly soon.

U kids listen to Chinese music?

I drink a lot of green tea and every Chinese I know (except a couple at my school) sings karaoke...I was so afraid that the cops were gonna come by my house because the adults were singing these old chinese songs at the top of their lungs on New Years Eve...

we did that last year... but in a restaurant in chinatown where we kinda bought the place for the night.

i have some chinese cds that i rarely listen to: a few of elva (although idk if she actually counts since she's like a canadian now), coco lee, this dude named michael (idk what his chinese name is).

green tea is the best. that's my water.

i have some songs from some guy named Andy Lau cause a girl told me to download his stuff. other than that, i don't really listen to chinese music or sing karaoke. my family isn't too big on karaoke either, thank god. although my grandparents (who live with us) love to watch chinese soap operas on the chinese channel we get.

oh yea, andy lau. he is (at least was when i was like 8) supposedly like a freaking hearthrob, although i don't think so. he's pretty big in china in both the music and movie industries.

haha, chinese culture is interesting

Andy Lau (Liu)...he's pretty good. My mom tells me, "He is like the battery that never runs out of energy. He recharges, and amazes me everytime." I like his music. But, there're lots of good/new chinese singers out there.

Karaoke...is it me? Or is the CHinese karaoke machines ALWAYS filled up with the oldest songs...cringe

ah gunbound.. i was so addicted to that game last year.. got myself up to ruby wand and realized what i was doing to my real life. hahaha

holy crap, ruby wand?? I only had gold axe and I thought I was bad... I remember being like a hammer and having pimped out gear cause my friend gave me gifted me all his stuff on his wand account

playing gb instead of reading apush chapters, haha good times

I am not Korean. I am German. My name is Kori, and it's a running joke for a friend of mine to call me Koreactor number 12...as in core reactor. He's a physics freak.

oooooooo ok kori. chinese people are something, huh?

the karaoke thing, i find that in the states, it's full of old cheesy american songs.

athlonmj, i'm so jealous that you got into Yale...!!! sigh. =) i know this is a Upenn page, still. good job!
haha my chinese is REALLY bad too. i went to chinese school...ever since 3rd grade, and i finally stopped last semester in jr. year. now i'm chinese-school free, and i'm definitely...more fluent in French than my own native language. this is sad.
asian pride, you know it.

oh yes! and i forgot. DOWNLOAD Jay Chou/Jay Chow. SUCCCHHH a good Chinese singer..i think i can even...gasp figure out what he's saying in some of them! (jay's the only one i know too, there are so many korean songs that i like too, upbeat + happy.)

U serious? Jay...I listen to him...kinda typical. But, even the natives can't figure what he says, like, the mags and entertainment channels and everyone diss Jay because he doesn't speak clearly...I even have to read his lyrics. If you wanna check out some good chinese music, Wang Leehom, and a bunch of others. Leehom and Endy (cantonese).

why the **** would u take math i and II? oh sorry right the language... :( go asians

wang leehom sucks at violin... he should stop frontin

wang leehom? famous chinese violin player, i presume?

i don't really like vanessa mae either, don't like that electric violin remix crap of classics.

Naw naw! Dude. He's a freakin' pop star now. Great music. Not talking about classical. Seriously, check his new album out: xin zhong de ri yue, great.

haha, how do u have access to all these chinese cd's? u get them sent to you from china?
