This is long but I need to vent and positive support would be appreciated. Well, I applied to STJ end of December using priority application for the Pharmacy Program. They required me to choose an alternative major so I selected "undecided within st. John's". Anyway, so I kept receiving e-mails and letters telling me to join the "shadow days" & "accepted students day" but I didn't even receive an acceptance letter or email. So I called st John's up and asked and they said I was supposed to receive an envelope about 10 days ago and that they'll resend it. So I assumed this meant I got accepted into pharmacy and I was so excited!!! Then I started searching around their website until I found out accepted students have their own URL so when I looked mine up, it said I had an "undeclared major" NOW I'M SO MAD because how can they accept me but not for what I applied for? So what'd they accept me for if not pharmacy????? That's so stupid. Why dont they just reject me? They should've at least emailed me with my acceptance to what major because mail can always get lost, rather than leaving me confused and mad. Ughhhhhhh is it possible to get accepted to undecided major even though I applied to pharmacy?

I’m sorry that you didn’t get accepted into the major that you wanted. You are not alone. It happens all the time apparently at St. John’s and at many other schools as well. Some programs are very competitive and just harder to get into.

You do still have the option to attend St. John’s if you choose another major. Or perhaps you were accepted to other schools and will end up somewhere else. I know this doesn’t help much but sometimes my biggest disappointments changed the path I was on and I found myself on a new path with greater opportunities than I could have imagined. You just never know. In any event, I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks. I’m just surprised that they don’t even email you with the decision they expect a letter to do the job but there you have it, my letter never arrived. :(

I’m also sorry to hear that you didn’t get into the Pharmacy program. From what I remember with my son, you were asked to choose another major in the event you got accepted to St. John’s, but not into Pharmacy. I can only imagine what you must be feeling. I watched my kids go through this roller coaster, but in the end though, they both ended up where they were meant to be. You will, too. Good luck!

Wow ok thanks

Do you have any idea whether you could fight a college rejection?

Not effectively…it’s their decision and they’ve made it.

It doesn’t sound like you were rejected from St. John’s. It sounds more like you were accepted into the school, but not into the PharmD program. And your major says undecided because you selected “undecided” when asked to choose a second major on the college app (in case you didn’t get into PharmD). So you can still go to the school, but just not for pharmacy, unfortunately.

Yea I understood that part but I’m actually only interested in their PharmD program but thanks for the clarification. And I heard you could appeal or something like that. Like send better SAT scores and the newest GPA with a letter of appeal.
