applied to pitt as a transfer - freaking nervous!

well if i get in, ill be happy. if not, im gonna keep on reapplying until i do. ill submit the essay to be reconsidered and whatnot.

i think im just too nervous here, considering i never want to go to Drexel U again!

if i dont get in, heaven forbid, then what should be my next plan of attack? write them an appeal letter? i already started, LMAO.

what else besides that?

alright so i know 3 People that have graduated from med school at pitt. all experienced doctors, all of which ive convinced to write me letters of reccomendation, all of which shoudl boost up my points.

in other news, im retaking the SAT for ****s and giggles with my buddy to see what we could get. purchased books and we are starting the cramming process.

If you want to be in Pittsburgh, you could go to one of the other local colleges and transfer to Pitt (there are tons, but I think you can simply register for CCAC - Community College of Allegheny County). Here is a link http://www.ccac.edu/ If you want Pitt, you could go to a branch and transfer to Oakland.

If they will not let you into the major of your choice, you could go to Pitt College of General Studies in Oakland and then transfer to traditional status later. Here is a link http://www.cgs.pitt.edu

If you are applying to a competitive major, you could possibly see if they will admit you to a different major and then try to transfer later.

I think the appeal letter can't hurt if you are rejected. A friend of mine wrote a letter for her son (slightly learning disabled) and got the decision reversed to let him into Penn State main campus. What college within the university are you applying to? What is your major?

my major at drexel was Bioscience.

My father passed away to a brain tumor, so i want to apply to the CoAs as a Neuroscience Major.

So its not like im applying to 20 other schools as a transfer, just Pitt. I addressed how my father illness was a catalyst for change, and how U Pitt can help me reach my potential.

people all tell me to calm down. But i spoke to someone that got his MD there, he said just to retake the SAT in may (not even important), and reenroll at drexel now, take a math class, science class, and this should put my GPA up back over a 3.3 if i get an A.

what i may even do is take a few classes they offer online over the summer. That should be a good help.

If you have already applied to Pitt and withdrawn from Drexel, you just need to be a little patient until you hear from Pitt. If you hated Drexel enough to withdraw, I don't think you will have much success in your classes if you go back (can you even do that at this point?) Also, I would trust Pitt admissions counselor if he/she said you don't have to retake the SAT.

yea i can go back to Drexel. I can commute there three days a week. I took the semester off after my father died. made me reevaulute my goals.

Im going to retake the SAT's with my bud. We are studying right now actually. On collegeboard printing out pratice tests. I should be fine.

My plan is taking 4 classes over the summer (enlish, 2 math, organic sequence), 3 now (Thesis writing, calculus, and something else) at drexel. Spoke to my old advisor and he said i can take credit classes for non students. If i decide to go back, then i will have to reapply. Im not going to do that though. it will also apply towards my GPA, which is incredible.

It's great that you have a plan. Good luck to you surftb15!

thank.

another question, how many letters of reccomendation should i submit???????? like does it get to a certain point where its too much?

You know, I must be confused. As I understand it, you have already applied as a transfer student and are waiting to hear from Pitt. So any recommendation letter would be in case of appeal?

yea i already applied as a transfer student. Im just planning my next course of action if i dont get in. Already registered for the SAT's and a SAT cram course to get familiar with the next format.

now im saying if i get a few pitt alumni (graduate and fellowships) to reccomend me, at what point is it too much? can there be too many letters of reccomendation?

Well, I think you can go overboard. It might be more impressive to have a great letter from a current professor or employer than random alumni. Probably anymore than two or three is superfluous.

alright well heres letters i can get without hesistation

governor of NJ (worked for)

Lab professor at Drexel.

Alumni who i did some research and misc tasks for

Alumni who knows me fairly well and the way i engage myself. Always asking questions and trying to solve complicated thinks.

maybe ill get all those 4? the reason why i will do this now is worst case scenario's. I think ill be fine if i appeal, but i didnt even get any letter. anyway, my application is done being reviewed

Good luck! I hope you get accepted :)

well see, if not i have a plan.

A. Submit 4 letters of reccomendation

B. Retake SAT's

C. Take some easy classes at Drexel (register for tomororw) to boost GPA. These classes will be fully transferable too.

that should make me look excellent on paper

i called my admission counseler and she said they still didnt reach a decision. I asked her if this was good or bad, and she said good.

i guess if you arent qualified or something, they trash your application right away?

Yeah, they're probably considering you.

woo!!!!!!!!!!!!! even if i dont get in, i think i will the second time around. Im not too worried.

If you don't get into the main campus, don't they consider you for a satellite campus?
