Applied to Viterbi but admitted undeclared?

I applied to the USC Viterbi school of engineering. I recently received the USC admissions packet stating that I was accepted, but there was another paper inside that said I was admitted to the college of letters, arts, and sciences without declaration of a major. Does this mean that the university admitted me but I was denied from Viterbi? If so, how difficult is it to get accepted to Viterbi or Marshall from within USC? I would like to get either a business administration or computer science degree, but if these are extraordinarily hard to get accepted to than I would rather not attend the college and end up with a worthless, generic degree.

Thanks

(fyi I was also direct admit as a computer science major at UIUC so this is the other choice I have)

My son is the same. Call Paul Ledesma the Admissions officer at Viterbi. What he told us is it’s as simple as taking your Viterbi classes, getting at least a 3.0, filling out your paperwork and you are done. The hard part was getting into USC.
