From what I understand, you cannot apply as a freshman at most
american colleges if you have previously studied at a university in
your own country. I am currently studying a separate course in
English at a university in Sweden. Now as I am not enrolled in a
whole education programme, could i still apply as a freshaman?
What do you guys think?

I think you would even HAVE to apply as a first year student.

You sure? I was afraid that any higher education studies
after high school would disable you from applying as a frehsman.
I hope you're right though.

If you are a full-time university student, you're right.
If you just take one or two single course(s), you still apply as a first year student.

Right, but an English course at my uni means one term full-time study.

For Penn you can apply as a freshman if you have studied less than a full year. So so long as you are below 40 or so Swedish academic points, you should be fine. I would imagine it is similar for most other schools.

I think if you are enrolled as a full-time student for less than 6 months, you can apply as a freshman.

I'm in my second term studying English B-level now, but I guess i could flunk a test or two to end up below 40 points.

For Harvard, Yale and Amherst, you can apply as freshman as long as you will have studied less than a year by the time of enrollment. Most other colleges require you to apply as transfer regardless of how long you have studied at university. But that's for fulltime enrollment only.

Since you only enrolled for one or two courses, then as barium said you can probably apply as freshman even if you had to do full-time studies for a term.

Btw, don't flunk any tests lol, even if you apply as freshman they will probably want a transcript from the university.

Yeah, don't do that.

Best if you send emails to universities you're applying to. That way you'll get the best, most accurate info.

thanks for the help, I'll send out some emails to be sure.

ya..........I would hav preferd that thing first(email the collegs n ask them)...

Contact the schools you wish to apply to.
Some schools have different rules for your kind of situation.
