so i'm going to UIUC and i'm thinking about transferring to Cal, Cornell, or UCLA
If I apply for Sophomore and get rejected,
can i apply again to the same school for Junior?

yes but you can't apply to the UC's as sophomores

You should give your first school your best effort both academically and socially, rather than giving up on it before you even attend.

well, of course brackis

i have low sat: 1800ish
SAT2: mat2: 740, korean:800
hs gpa: 3.85/4.0
good EC's

i heard if you apply for sophomore, they look more at your hs stats.
well i think i have decent GPA but my SAT scores...

do you think i should try for cornell for sophomore? considering that i get good GPA at UIUC

UIUC, I don't think your korean SAT score makes any better chance since you are a korean. Anyway, assuming you are applying to Cornell as an internation student, you need decent TOEFL score and SAT verbal score with additional SAT2 subject test(s). I encourage you to get at least 700+ on physics or chemistry(If you are an engineering student) subject test. The most important factor for international transfer applicants is obviously your strength in English.. If admission office doesn't see any problem with your TOEFL, SAT1 verbal and letter of recommendation from your english(ESL) instructor, then they will focus on your potential in other subjects.

I'm also a korean who applied to Cornell Engineering for fall 07(also applied to two other ivies, UIUC and got an admission from UIUC computer science) and I'm still waiting for their decision. So once I get an admission or rejection, we can compare our stats to prepare your next step on transferring.

thx Madlee
my Toefl score is 108 in ibt
though i have 550for verbal in sat1

if i apply for junior then, will i have better chances? considering that i get high GPA at uiuc

and Plz PM me if u get in to Cornell^^

Well I'm 100% sure that you'll get a way better chance if you maintain high GPA through all three semesters. I'll let you know if I get in.

thx. what's your major by the way?
