Apply early action or retake SAT subject tests?

Hi CCers,

I took 3 subject tests last spring: Math II (750), Biology (640), and US History (730). I'm applying many places, including a couple of Ivy Leagues and Stanford as my mega-reaches (yes, I have plenty of matches and safeties!) . I would love to apply early to one of my reaches just so I can have a response in December, but I'm concerned about my subject test scores. Biology is my intended major, and I know the score is awful - I honestly don't know what happened there. I am considering three options: 1) apply early action to one place and send in all 3 scores 2) apply early action to one place and send in the 2 higher scores (math and history) or 3) retake the math and biology subject tests in November and wait until the regular decision round to apply anywhere. I need some second opinions, and any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Some of your reach schools don’t require SATIIs. Yale for instance, will take ACTs as sufficient. Act accordingly.

But I’d omit the fact that you intend to be a Bio major when applying unless you do boost your Bio score upwards.

Stanford recommends, but doesn’t require SAT subject tests. If I applied there, what would be the best course of action? As for Yale, unfortunately I didn’t take the ACT :(

For Stanford, you can do score choice for SAT2. Your top 2 score at 730 and 750 probably would not help your application much, nor would it hurt.

Well at least it wouldn’t hurt haha. Maybe I should wait and try to get >750 on the Math II and Biology. I still want to apply to at least one school early action… hmm decisions!
