Apply Early vs. Applying Regular

I recently spoke with an admissions dean from UVa, and she told me that those who have low GPAs (but otherwise good applications) should apply RD to allow adcoms to see improvement in grades.

Originally, I had planned to apply to UChicago early, but I am considering applying RD now because of the UVA dean's advice. I know that Chicago pays more attention to essays, so is it worth it to apply RD. Are there any advantages of applying EA as opposed to RD. Are there any advanted of applying RD as opposed to EA?

Thanks everyone.

The only advantage to EA is you find out if you are accepted sooner. Conversely as the Dean said, if you need the time to show an improvement in grades then RD is the better choice.

really dont think there’s much advantage with EA, it’s kinda like an option that’s good for both sides because they can read your app earlier and you know if you get in earlier but the chances aren’t any higher
